Concert Number Two Complete

I finished the second concert of my four concerts in one week journey. The Ashland Community Concert Band played “A Winter Festival” tonight at the Hugo Young Theater in Ashland, OH.

The playlist was:

It’s Christmas arranged by Warren Barker.

The concert was then followed up by the great Ashland University Jazz Orchestra, who featured Tom Reed on Clarinet and Saxophone.

VCMA Community Band – Christmas Tree Ship Performance

Vermilion Community Music Association’s Concert Band performed for the arrival of the Christmas Tree Ship in Vermilion, OH yesterday. While the sounds recorded night not be as cohesive as you are used to from the Vermilion Community Band, please be kind and remember that we were essentially sight reading music with a small percentage of our members in attendance. I can also say for me personally it was way too early in the morning for me to playing.

The temperature was below freezing and the musician’s are lucky their instruments did not get stuck to their faces when they initially started to perform. Four Concerts – One Week

Since I’ve been doing the community band thing this year it turns out this next week I have four concerts.

This Saturday (December 1st) 10:30am-12:00pm – I will be playing at Exchange Park in Vermilion, OH with the Vermilion Community Band.

Next Tuesday I’ll be performing with the Ashland Community Band at the Ashland Univ at University Campus at 7:30 PM – it is a joint concert with the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra.

Next Thursday I’ll be performing with the Vermilion Community Band again at the Inn at Chapel Park at 7:30 PM.

Finally next Saturday I’ll be finishing the winter concert season with a performance again with the Vermilion Community Band for a Concert at Midway Mall in Elyria, OH. The concert starts at 7:00 PM.

I’ll be playing third trumpet in all the concerts. This is no longer high school so it’s not anything derogatory anymore. I really have no interest in playing first part in any of these bands. I can say getting back into playing my tone and tongueing have greatly improved. Probably better then when I was playing in high school or college.

I’m fairly certain I’ll be sticking with this going forward since I had forgotten how important music is to my life.
